The Sudsy Challenge is back for its third year to start conversations all over Australia, and for the first time, we're crossing the ditch to New Zealand. We’d love you to join us!
Keep your kit on for three days, talk about it with those around you and help raise funds and awareness to support our friends experiencing homelessness.
Orange Sky has 33 services across Australia and New Zealand that provide access to free laundry, warm showers and most importantly, genuine conversation. By taking part in the challenge, you’ll help to ensure that our friends doing tough have access to the services they need, as well a place where they feel welcome and connected.
So, who is Sudsy?
‘Sudsy’ was the first ever laundry van built by Orange Sky co-founders, Nic and Lucas, at the age of 20. It took them three days (and three sets of washing machines and dryers) to get Sudsy operating. Nic, Lucas and Sudsy hit the streets of Brisbane, Australia and met a friend named Jordan, who was the first person to use the free mobile laundry service. Jordan taught Nic and Lucas that while clean clothes were important, it's the conversation and connection that mattered more.
Every day, vans just like Sudsy hit the road across Australia and New Zealand to support people doing it tough. In every one of these vans, there are six orange chairs that are pulled out at each shift location to create an opportunity for volunteers and friends to connect through genuine and non-judgemental conversation.
The Sudsy Challenge is about raising funds and awareness so that friends, like Jordan, have access to free laundry, warm showers, and connection.
